Commemoration

“You think dogs will not
be in heaven? I tell you,
they will be there long
before any of us.”

- Robert Louis Stevenson

At ElderDog Canada we know that the bond between people and their canine companions is powerful and, all too often, cut short. Through our sister organization, Friends of ElderDog, we acknowledge and support the importance of commemorating loss.

Sharing stories through words, image, and deed not only helps to honour and remember special relationships between humans and animals, it also helps to create awareness and understanding of the special connection between humans and companion animals.

Friends of ElderDog Offers:

    • Bereavement support for older adults and others who have lost companion animals;
    • Opportunities to dedicate a gift or legacy in memory of a specific dog, human-canine relationship or to commemorate the human-animal bond in general
    • Online commemoration to pay tribute to canine companions who have passed on;
    • A physical Place to Paws site located at ElderDog national office in Nova Scotia.
