Roxy

On February15, 2021, I was thrilled to become Roxy’s new Mom. I started the bonding process with her immediately, taking Roxy into the nearest town to see other people and for her to experience the sights and sounds of her new hometown. Roxy was timid at first but, in time, got to know many people on our many walks. Roxy eventually would go up to people she knew and then even to strangers to see if maybe they wanted to talk to her or pat her.

The thing I absolutely loved about Roxy was her kind and gentle ways with people. Her two best friends in the world are an 86 year old and a 90 year old who we visited regularly. She had them wrapped around her paw and had their hearts melting on their first meeting. Anyone who met Roxy walked away loving her and knowing they were loved in return.

I had been told that Roxy may never be able to have doggy friends. Roxy and I learned that, if we walked behind a dog for long enough, at a safe and comfortable distance for Roxy, she eventually would decide that she and the other dog maybe could be friends. Some dogs only took days and others took months but Roxy got to decide whether or not they would be friends. In this manner, Roxy was able to have doggy friends that she could walk with.

I miss  her dearly and will never forget this beautiful, spirited dog who learned to love and trust again and showed all that love and trust  in return to everyone she met! She was blessed with many loving friends, both human and doggy when she passed away too soon on March 6, 2025.

Rest easy, Roxy. You left your paw prints and your heart on everyone you met in our little town! You will be remembered by many!
