Benji

  • 2026

This beautiful soul came to us last December through ElderDog Guelph. Benji was 18 years old at the time. His human could no longer care for him. He arrived after surviving the loss of his home and having to have over 200 kidney stones removed. In the almost 9 months Benji was with us, he brightened our lives, made us laugh, taught us that love is unconditional, and was an excellent companion. He loved his walks, checking his pee-mails daily, and greeting passers-by as any self-respecting Schnauzer should. But time is a fickle thing…we were not destined to have him forever, we were merely his landing pad so he could have a safe and loving home to complete his journey. It has been a tremendous honour to host this beautiful boy, who had been obviously raised in a loving home by a person who adored him.

Benji crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 11:30am on August 31, 2026 surrounded by his new family who loved him so dearly. It was a peaceful, beautiful, gut-wrenching moment done with such grace and dignity. He will be forever fondly remembered.
