Pixels

Pixels was such a sweet, lovable dog with no bad habits, such as anxiety at being left alone, chewing or excessive barking. Carolyn and Robert are both keen photographers and hence gave him the name “Pixels”. He brought immense joy and happiness to our lives from July 2012 to October 2025 when he embarked on his journey to the rainbow bridge.

After a walk, when he knew that he was headed back home, Pixels picked up the pace and actually would run!  His walkers believed that he was worried about Carolyn, given the gravity of her heart condition. He made an exceptional therapy dog, which other volunteers will attest to, having received his lingering cuddles.

When Robert came to visit, Pixels would push his nose through the gate strips in anticipation of belly and ear rubs. When Robert went to have a nap Pixels would join him and have a nap close to Robert on the bed. He definitely recognized who was the soft touch of the family and positioned himself under the dining room table, right beside Robert, to receive forbidden treats. He would then present himself and lick his lips, telling you he wanted more.

Pixels was such a smart, independent dog and it was amusing to see how he manipulated situations. He cleverly discovered that he could manipulate volunteers into giving him multiple treats in exchange for every few steps forward. When a volunteer took him out for his sniffs and walks, it was not unusual for Pixels to block a passerby to receive pets and be admired. Given his sweet, gentle disposition, Pixels was the perfect dog to be introduced to small children. Because of Pixels’ endearing smile, people did indeed want to interact with him.

Pixels was able to fake selective hearing quite well. He would often ignore his name when called and also commands to him. Yet he could hear Carolyn opening a treat bag three rooms away

Pixels had a great sense of priority. Carolyn’s bed was his! He would only indignantly vacate it when it was Carolyn’s bedtime.

Pixels shall remain in our hearts forever!
