Blue

Blue became part of ElderDog’s family when her beloved companion, Vesta, reached out to ElderDog a few years ago concerned that she was not able to provide Blue with the exercise she needed. Since then, volunteers Shirley and Penni devoted their time to helping Vesta with Blue’s care. Whether it was for a long walk, a trip to the groomer, a car ride, or even a picnic in the park, Blue was ready for any adventure and Vesta could rest easy knowing that her beloved Blue would return home to her tired and happy. Over the years, Shirley and Blue developed a special relationship. Says, Shirley, “I truly enjoyed our time together and helping Vesta with her dog’s needs. It came at a perfect time as I had just lost my own dog and Blue filled a great void in my life. Blue settled into my home on her visits and always knew where I kept the treat stash.” And, when Shirley adopted an Elder Dog of her own, Nakita and Blue spent time together. Shirley reflected on their “great last day together” and how Blue “will be missed dearly.” For Vesta, the void Blue has left in her life is vast.

Blue’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those she has touched and for whom her absence is so deeply felt.
