Dusty

Dusty was 20 years old when he came to ElderDog in December 2022. Other than arthritis in one leg and needing to put on weight, his vet was amazed at how healthy he was. Three weeks after he arrived, Kate and John, his fosters, called to say they wanted to adopt him! We were thrilled knowing Dusty would have his forever family for what little time he had left. At first, he’d sleep by the front door but that quickly changed and he’d snuggle in Kate’s arms at night. He’d cry when she went out and wanted to be picked up as soon as she walked in the door.

At 21 years old, he still loved walking around the patio. When his old bones started to ache, we got him a stroller where he could enjoy the sun in the backyard. He loved to snuggle on the couch covered in his blanket and enjoyed lots of attention. He was a boy who knew what he wanted and how to get it.

Sadly, at 21.5 years old, Dusty passed away peacefully in Kate’s arms. He was very much loved and very spoiled as he deserved to be. Our thoughts go out to Kate, John and the ElderDog volunteers who were lucky enough to know this special little fellow.

RIP Dusty.
